As The Palaces Burn stay heavy on new single “Zodiac”

As The Palaces Burn released the new single “Zodiac” last Friday, December 13, in conjunction with the Palaces Fest 13th Edition, a festival organized by the band and now in its second edition.

The single is a composition that revisits the origins of the Brazilian band, drawing inspiration from “Arcanum,” a standout from their debut album End’evour (2019) , the new song dives into the chilling story of the Zodiac Killer, the infamous and unidentified criminal who terrorized the United States in the 1960s.

“Zodiac offers a glimpse into the killer’s dark, introspective psyche while weaving a lyrical thread back to ‘Arcanum,’” explains drummer and lyricist Gilson Naspolini. “While Diego Bittencourt’s original composition didn’t focus on this theme, I reimagined it, creating a seamless connection between the two songs—melodically and narratively. ‘Zodiac’ fuses ‘Arcanum’s’ enigmatic aura with a harrowing, sinister storyline”.

“Zodiac” maintains the essence presented in the band’s previous songs, but goes further by demonstrating a clear artistic evolution. The single combines the old school energy of rock’n’roll with the aggressiveness and technical precision of modern metal. This well-balanced mix reflects the band’s ability to transform its influences into something unique, consolidating its own identity in the contemporary rock and metal scene. It is proof that As The Palaces Burn is constantly growing, unafraid to explore new sound paths.

The single, available now on all major streaming platforms, is accompanied by striking cover art designed by Carlos Fides and boasts the stellar production work of Adair Daufembach, who was also responsible for recording the bass line, two acclaimed names in the metal world.
