It’s been a while, but we’re back with another edition of the Moshville Times Singles Club. As always, we’ve got a range of genres covering the whole spectrum of heavy. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone in this edition, and a couple of real stand-out tracks for me, so dive in, give them a listen, and let us know what you think in the comments and on the socials.
We’ll kick things off with the debut single “People Like You” by Dublin-based groove metal band Charnel Crown. If you like good old-fashioned metal with thick groove, well-made riffs, and aggressive vocals, then you’ve come to the right place because this is the one for you. Formed at the end of 2025, the band by their own admission aren’t looking to reinvent the wheel; instead, what they’re here for is authenticity without compromise. That’s what you get with “People Like You”, a slice of good old-fashioned metal wearing its influences on its sleeve and ready to drag you into the pit with it. The band have a lot planned for 2026 with upcoming shows and debut EP Such Is Life on its way in the summer, so if you’re a fan of this, there’s more to look forward to.

Next up is one that has me particularly excited, “W.N.”, which is a collaboration between Pupil Slicer—the mathcore band who draw inspiration from all over the metal landscape—and the industrial noise-pop of Tayne. Honestly, these two are a match made in heaven and they’ve easily made one of the best songs of the year so far. They’ve managed to perfectly merge both of their unique individual sounds into one amazing track. If you’re not familiar with either band, for this track think industrial-mathcore. The song is both at odds with itself and in perfect harmony. The looping synth and eerie vocals of Tayne on one side are cut with Pupil Slicer’s raw and vicious vocals and heavy guitar riffs on the other. It’s not a collab I saw coming, and I didn’t know I needed it until I heard it. It’s unnervingly catchy, and they’ve really smashed it out the park with this one. We’ve been fans of the Slicer crew for a while—check out our review of their latest album here.

A change of pace now with “Interstate Dr”, the beautiful new single from Tummyache. This is the first track from their upcoming fourth album, which was written in response to the loss of band architect Soren Bryce’s father. The band are playing with a wide range of artists this summer, from The Maccabees to Converge, and “Interstate Dr” highlights why Tummyache are at home sharing a stage with anyone. The raw and emotional lyrics add a heaviness to the fragmented and looping instrumentation, which at times feels atmospheric and almost ambient. From the very first note, the track hits like prime Kid A era Radiohead. If the rest of the upcoming album is half as good as “Interstate Dr”, then I imagine it’ll be cracking some top 10s come the end of the year. I’m certainly looking forward to more of this.
“Interstate Dr” will be released 14th May

Taken from Infected Dead’s newly released EP Invicta, which arrived on May 1st, the second single “Organic Monolith” is a slice of technical death-metal cosmic horror storytelling. Over the brutal assault of high-velocity, machine-like drumming, a technical bass punch to the face, and frantic industrial riffs comes the tale of the Monolith. It’s a horror you can’t resist. As the band themselves put it, “…the end is upon us, as the sky dies and archaic structures rise from the sea, humanity is drawn hopelessly to obliteration”. Death metal fans of all descriptions should check this out, along with the EP it’s taken from.

Bristol’s Sans Froid aren’t a band to be neatly boxed into one genre, and their new single “Go On” sees them cover a musical multitude in just over three minutes. The second single to be taken from their upcoming second album Back into the Womb, the band’s creativity and wide-ranging influences are very much on show. The song explores the struggles of navigating the world as a non-male person. The powerful lyrics are delivered in an equally powerful manner, with big soulful and at times folk-tinged vocals which are a real centrepiece of the song. They weave in and out of music which moves from math-rock to jagged piano jazz and finishes with a furious finale. I don’t think this will be like anything else you’ve heard this year, so you should definitely give it a try. On the strength of this one, the upcoming album is one to watch out for as well.

Finally, we have the massive “Aura Flux” by A Light Within. A truly ambitious song, it brings together influences from Nine Inch Nails, Porcupine Tree, Cult of Luna, Tool, and so many other bands of the prog, industrial, and post-metal world. It’s hard to convey in a paragraph everything this band have managed to put into this song. This sprawling song builds over thirteen minutes, starting with an atmospheric opening that shifts quickly from heavy vocals to clean singing, allowing for more direct storytelling. This shifting delivery is present throughout the song and allows vocalist Kyle Brandt to convey every emotion possible. The song shifts into its second phase with a heavy tension-building synth and bass combination and a heavy-quiet post-metal dynamic that forces the song forward with a new crushing brutality. The song’s finale comes in the form of a beautiful and almost uplifting instrumental part that brings the song full circle and mirrors the lyrical themes of collapse and renewal. This isn’t a song you can give half your time and attention to; it’s fully immersive and you need to put it on and really listen to it. The reward for that is worth it though.
