Moshville Times Singles Club – Review Roundup featuring Permacrisis, My Dark Fate, Endeavour, Soul of Anubis and The Bambees

Have you exhausted all your AI-generated playlists, fed up with the same old suggested artists, and looking for something new to get stuck into? Well, we may be able to help you here at the Moshville Times Single Club. While we’re not expanding into the world of online dating, we do have some of the hottest singles around. Here are five of the finest releases from near and far, covering a vast array of genres so there’s something here for everyone. Give them a go, find something new, and let us know what you think.

Starting off strong, we have the newest single, “The Untrue Endeavour”, from Kirkcaldy’s very own Permacrisis. Formed in 2023, these lads offer a modern take on good old-fashioned thrash metal. The song’s foundation is built on fast, melodic riffs and powerful vocals that’ll have you hooked and pit-ready in no time.

It goes one step further, though; we’re not just here for some thrash-by-numbers. There’s an atmospheric intro featuring strings and woodwind, and the track hits you with an almost prog-like turn about halfway through. It might sound a bit mental on paper, but trust me, it works. There’s no fear from these guys—just an assured confidence from such a young band, which is exactly why this track lands so well.

From the old-guard Metallica fans who’ve played their Ride the Lightning record until the grooves are worn thin, to the new school who grew up on the likes of Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium, this song has something for everyone. It’ll definitely keep the heads nodding.

Moving a bit further afield from Fife, we have Austrian groove-metallers My Dark Fate with their latest single, “Frightened to the Core”. This is a band that underwent a full reboot in 2025 and they are clearly keen to show off the new gear. This track sounds like a proper statement of intent, as well as an exhibition of what the new additions bring to the table.

New vocalist and bassist Marina Su goes toe-to-toe with guitarist/vocalist Stefan Geir, and the song is built entirely around their chemistry. It’s a great look at the dynamic between Marina’s soaring, melodic clean vocals and Stefan’s abrasive, guttural growls. There’s a definite touch of the symphonic about it, but it stays rooted firmly in a heavy groove for the most part. If you like your metal with a bit of drama and a cinematic edge, this one is for you.

Coming back closer to home, we find Bristol progressive metal duo Endeavour and their newest single, “… These Shallows”, which marks their first new material since 2017. Clocking in at a hefty eight minutes and one second, it’s clearly a prog epic, but don’t go into this one expecting soaring high-pitched vocals and tales of wizards in the woods.

When I first read they were for fans of both Dream Theater and Pantera, I couldn’t quite wrap my head around how those two worlds would collide, but give it two minutes and you’ll see exactly how it works. The music moves seamlessly across the spectrum, taking you from the melodic to the aggressive; from all-out thrash to groove and intricate guitar work. The vocals are right there for the ride too, showing off Iain GT Davies’ ability to adapt his voice and cover some serious ground.

I ended up listening to this about three times in a row, so consider this a warning: it’s not a track you can just give a quick spin and forget. You’ll have it on repeat.

Back to the continent now for Portuguese duo Soul of Anubis. Their new single, “Mind Crusher”, features Keijo Niinimaa of Rotten Sound and is taken from their upcoming album Ritual, which is out 20th February via Time To Kill Records. It’s almost mental that just two people (and a guest) can make this much visceral noise. I’ll admit I hadn’t heard them before getting my ears around this one, but it’s really done the job; I’m hooked and will certainly be coming back for more when the record drops.

The song itself comes screaming—literally—out of the speakers and hits you full force. This is definitely one for the punters who like it properly heavy. Lyrically, the track deals with a subject as weighty as the music itself. In the band’s own words, it tells the story of an old man “who realized the adversities his mind had endured throughout his life,” serving as a reflection on the struggle for mental health.

Musically, “Mind Crusher” has a bit of everything: there’s a deathcore-level intensity mixed with sludgy riffs and some old-school groove. Give this one a bash if you’re in the market for something to blow your ears out.

Finally, we’re off to Wales for the new one from The BAMBEES. Their latest single, “NOEYES//NOLOVE”, grabbed me right from the off. It’s a tight two-and-a-half minutes, but it packs in so much raw power with fast riffs and a massive amount of energy. The guitar work at the start actually put me in mind of early Pixies, but the rest of the track is very much their own brand of chaotic post-punk.

This is a band and a song that feel like they were built specifically for a live setting. I can easily imagine this one going off in a sweaty venue like Nice N Sleazy with everyone losing their heads. There’s no need to overcomplicate things with words here—just go and give it a listen. The track is out on 11th February via Flip Flop Records, and if you’re in South Wales, they’ve got a release show at Clwb Crown in Merthyr Tydfil on Friday 13th February that promises to be a belter.
