EP Review: Demonic Resurrection – Apocalyptic Dawn

Twenty-five years is a long old time in the music game, especially in death metal, but Indian legends Demonic Resurrection have returned swinging hard with Apocalyptic Dawn. It’s a three-track EP that proves they are far from done; it’s a proper slab of heavy metal from a band that clearly still has plenty of fire in the belly.

Opener “Great Famine” tricks you with a nice delicate piano intro before kicking the doors in without warning. From there on out, it’s heavy as anything. The guitars are meaty and grind with purpose, the bass rattles your chest, and the drums sound absolutely massive. The vocals sit right on top, commanding the whole chaotic lot perfectly.

“Of Blindness and Divinity” ramps the aggression up a notch. It’s a proper gallop, absolutely made for the mosh pit. It’s full of blistering riffs and savage momentum – the kind of track that makes you want to run through a brick wall.

The title track finishes things off and it’s a cracker. It shows off some gorgeous, widdly guitar work and thunderous vocals. It feels a bit indulgent, but in a good way; it shows off exactly what the band can do without dragging on or showing off too much.

Apocalyptic Dawn is short, sharp, and does the job. If you needed proof that Demonic Resurrection are still a force to be reckoned with, this is it.
