Italian alternative metal act Avalance share music video for new single “Rag Masks”

Italian alternative metal outfit Avalance have officially unveiled the music video for their brand-new single “Rag Masks”. Released in partnership with Superbia Music Group, the cinematic visual was directed by Luca Moretti, while the track itself was produced by Valerio Quirini and mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio.

The new single explores the heavy themes of vulnerability and emotional survival in the modern world. Written by the collective lineup of Maria Vallotto, Simone Stecca, Mattia Buggin, Gianmarco Barbato, and Matteo Danuol, the lyrics utilize raw, improvised rag-made masks as a central symbol for what remains of a person’s identity after experiencing pain, fear, and deep disappointment.

The band shared insight into the driving concepts and sonic progression behind the new track:

“The song tells the story of wounded people still trying to find their place in the world, even when they feel disconnected, isolated, or broken. The central symbol of the track is these rag-made masks: raw, improvised, imperfect. They do not represent elegance or mystery, but what remains of our identity after pain, fear, and disappointment. They are defenses stitched together from the last fragments we have left in order to face the world. We live in a time where vulnerability is often perceived as weakness, so we learn to hide behind altered versions of ourselves just to survive emotionally. With ‘Rag Masks’ we also wanted to further modernize our sound by introducing immersive atmospheres, sound design, and new electronic elements while still keeping the energy and impact of our metal identity intact.”

Looking ahead, the group is currently preparing additional new music to further expand their sonic identity. At the same time, the musicians are heavily focused on developing their live activity, with fresh performance plans in the works and a concrete possibility of expanding their live presence across Europe in the coming months. The new single is available to stream now across all major digital platforms.
