Musta Suru premiere lyric video for “Savu”

Finnish depressive black metal duo Musta Suru have premiered the official lyric video for their new track, “Savu.” Arriving today, 10th May, the video serves as the latest glimpse into the atmospheric dread defining their upcoming full-length album, Viimeinen viilto, which is set for release on 29th May via Downfall Records.

Hailing from Tampere, the project was founded in 2020 by members Non (guitars, bass, vocals) and Mors (drums). The band’s name translates roughly to “black sorrow,” a title that perfectly encapsulates their sonic exploration of pain, death, and the more unpleasant aspects of human existence. For the duo, who both have extensive backgrounds in the Finnish black metal scene, Musta Suru is as much a form of therapy as it is a musical passion, providing a shared language for releasing difficult emotions.

The new track “Savu” (Finnish for “Smoke”) continues the trajectory established by their previous singles, blending haunting melodies with the raw, claustrophobic intensity characteristic of the genre. We previously noted that the duo are keeping the tradition of cold, lonely treks through the forest alive with their earlier track visualiser for “Veren varjot.” Fans of the genre can expect Viimeinen viilto to deliver a full-scale psychological descent when it lands later this month.

Viimeinen viilto is available for pre-order now on limited digipak CD and digital formats through Downfall Records.
