British thrash legends Acid Reign have officially kickstarted their 2026 campaign with the release of their brand-new single, “Sorrowsworn”. The track serves as the second taste of their upcoming fourth studio album, Daze Of The Week, which is set to arrive on 15th May via Back On Black. This marks the band’s first full-length offering since 2019’s critically acclaimed The Age Of Entitlement.
Vocalist and original member Howard H Smith is clearly energised by the new material, noting that the band “can’t wait to play this live and get the crowd singing along.” In a nod to the band’s history, the track also features backing vocals by the enigmatic “Kev”. The album was recorded with long-time collaborator Jayce Lewis, who flew in from New York to capture what he describes as a band “reborn”.
The journey to Daze Of The Week hasn’t been without its hurdles. Following significant line-up changes, Smith has dubbed this era “Acid Reign 3.0”. Joining Smith and bassist Pete are lead guitarist Matt Smith, drummer Johnny Grimley, and rhythm guitarist Darren Mcgillivray. Smith admits there were moments of doubt following previous departures, but the drive to maintain the band’s legacy prevailed. “No way am I letting circumstance dictate when this band’s career ends,” Smith commented, praising the new line-up as the most vital iteration yet.
To support the release, the band will be hitting the road across the UK and Ireland starting in late May.
