Pennsylvania metal heavyweights (and a Band of the Day a long time ago!) The Last Ten Seconds of Life have officially unleashed their latest full-length, The Dead Ones, today via Metal Blade Records. To mark the occasion, the band has shared a crushing new video for the track “Rat Trap”, featuring a guest appearance from Nate Johnson (ex-Fit For An Autopsy).
Marking their debut on Metal Blade, the album was produced by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio. Guitarist Wyatt McLaughlin describes the record’s sonic identity as a “rolling-tank-like feel,” achieved by returning to the Drop F tuning used on their 2012 Warpath EP. The result is ten tracks of pulverising deathcore that focus heavily on thick, intense tones.
The record is a collaborative affair, featuring further guest spots from David Simonich of Signs Of The Swarm, Alan Grnja of Distant, and the band’s original vocalist Storm Strope. McLaughlin noted that the band examined their entire past discography to create a “ten-song thriller” that captures exactly what their fanbase connects with. Critics are already calling it their most ferocious offering in years, and it’s easy to see why.
The Dead Ones is available now on CD, digital, and several limited vinyl variants. Check out the “Rat Trap” video below and see if your neck can handle the strain.
