Nu-metal veterans Saliva have made a cracking return with their latest single, “COPE”, and they’ve brought a heavy hitter along for the ride. The track features Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch and is out now via Judge & Jury Records. It’s a proper rock anthem that doesn’t shy away from the heavy stuff, focusing on resilience and finding a way through life’s darker chapters.
Musically, “COPE” feels like a bit of a throwback to the sound that made the band massive in the early 2000s. It blends frontman Bobby Amaru’s sharp rap delivery with McNevan’s soaring vocal hooks, hitting a sonic sweet spot reminiscent of hits like “Always” and “Your Disease”. To make sure it hits as hard as possible, the band brought in producers Cameron Pierce Mizell and Luke Fiadino to handle the desk.
The inspiration behind the song is deeply personal for both vocalists. Amaru mentioned that the track is for young people fighting quiet battles and trying to find their identity in a noisy world. McNevan added that the song is about that moment of hitting rock bottom and realising that surrendering control is sometimes the only way back up. It’s a message aimed squarely at anyone struggling with addiction or personal demons.
It’s great to see the guys back with such a focused, high-energy track. For now, get “COPE” on your playlist and keep an eye out for more news from the camp as the year progresses.
