London alt-pop collective The Deadmans drop cinematic video for “Tattoo Season”

London’s latest alt-pop exports, The Deadmans, have just released a brand-new video for their single “Tattoo Season”. It’s the latest cut from their self-titled debut album, which is out now if you fancy grabbing it on 12” vinyl or through your usual digital haunts. These guys are a bit more than just a band; they’re essentially a living art project, mixing music with some seriously cool, Lynchian visuals.

The track itself is a proper collaboration between American lyricist LaurenSage Browning and her husband, producer Harry Deadman. Browning describes “Tattoo Season” as a bit of a metaphor for those big life choices that suddenly start happening at high speed once you find the right person. Apparently, the name comes from the couple’s first season together, where they spent a fair bit of time getting matched-up tiny tattoos. It’s a love song that dodges the usual clichés, focusing instead on commitment as a way to actually feel free.

The video is a self-produced cinematic affair set in the “The Deadmans Motel” – a surreal, sparkly space designed to feel like a physical version of limbo. If that sounds a bit deep for a Tuesday, don’t worry; it looks fantastic and captures a vibe of awkward but uninhibited joy. The characters in this clip actually have their own arcs that stretch across the band’s other videos, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the background details.

The album was a proper globetrotting effort, recorded in Paris, London, Brooklyn, LA, and Australia. It was mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty, who has worked with some massive names like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, so the production is as sleek as you’d expect. The band recently played a packed-out immersive launch show at Elektrowerkz in London, and while they are playing their cards close to their chest regarding future gigs, we’re told to keep watching the skies for more surprises soon.
