Montreal death metal legends Cryptopsy have officially unleashed the uncensored version of the music video for “Malicious Needs,” the harrowing finale of their latest JUNO-nominated album, An Insatiable Violence. Originally labeled too extreme for unfiltered consumption on YouTube, the video serves as a dystopian commentary on our toxic relationship with social media and digital fantasies.
The release comes as the band celebrates a significant career renaissance. Following their 2024 JUNO Award win for As Gomorrah Burns, the group has secured a second consecutive nomination for Best Metal/Hard Music Album with An Insatiable Violence. Vocalist Matt McGachy describes the record as a “groovy” but aggressive exploration of the human condition, featuring some of the fastest passages and deepest growls in the band’s 30-year history.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark album None So Vile, Cryptopsy will embark on the “Malicious & Vile Summer 2026” tour. The run includes several highly anticipated stops in the UK and Ireland this August, including a performance at Bloodstock Open Air.
