The Moshville Times - At The Gates unveil “The Dissonant Void” as tribute to Tomas Lindberg

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have released “The Dissonant Void”, the second single from their upcoming eighth studio album, The Ghost of a Future Dead. Set for release on 24th April 2026 via Century Media Records, the album serves as a poignant final chapter and tribute to iconic frontman Tomas Lindberg, who passed away in September 2025.

The new track is described by the band as a powerful and melodic example of the classic At The Gates sound. Originally considered as the album’s title track, “The Dissonant Void” arrives with a video directed by longtime collaborator Costin Chioreanu. The video is part of a larger conceptual “movie” project Chioreanu created to enhance the entire record, which he describes as an ultimate homage to Lindberg’s genius.

The album was actually completed in the studio over two years ago. Following Tomas’ passing due to complications from cancer treatment, the remaining members – Adrian Erlandsson, Jonas Björler, Anders Björler, and Martin Larsson – worked to ensure the release strictly followed Lindberg’s specific wishes regarding the mix, track order, and artwork. Recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, the band views this record as Tomas’ enduring legacy.

Fans have plenty of options for physical copies, with various limited coloured vinyl editions hitting retailers, including a “red-black haze” variant specific to UK shops.
