The award-winning blues-rock duo When Rivers Meet are back with a bang, dropping their brand-new single “The Tide Is Turning” alongside the announcement of their upcoming album, Rhythm Rust & Static. Husband and wife team Grace and Aaron Bond have been busy, and not just in the studio – they’re expecting their first child this March, right before heading back out on the road in July. Talk about a busy schedule!
The new track is a gritty anthem inspired by the reality of life on the road. Grace says the song is all about those moments in loud, messy venues where you can feel the momentum building even when things aren’t polished. It’s a bit of a shift from their last record, Addicted To You, which had a much bigger production. This time around, the pair wanted to capture that raw, “first album” energy that makes a record feel truly alive.
As one of the few fully independent UK acts to snag two Top 10 albums, these two aren’t interested in the usual industry rulebook. They’ve stuck to their guns, turning down major label deals to keep doing things their own way. It’s clearly working, with three consecutive Band of the Year wins at the UK Blues Awards under their belts. We’ve been following them for a while now; you can check out our previous chat with the band here to see just how far they’ve come.
Rhythm Rust & Static is set to land on 29th May, and pre-orders are already live. If you want to catch the new tunes live, they’ve got a massive run of UK dates lined up for the summer and autumn. Get those pints ready, because these shows are going to be crackers.
