Award-winning British blues and roots artist Sunjay has just dropped his latest single, “That’s Love,” giving us another taste of what’s to come from his tenth studio album. While you might expect a gentle, acoustic take on the Stephen Bruton-penned track, Sunjay has gone the other way, leaning into a full-bodied sound packed with groove and warmth.
The track is built around a cracking band performance that blurs the lines between blues, Americana, and classic pop. Sunjay says he wanted the recording to feel as alive and chaotic as love itself, rather than overcomplicating things in the studio. It’s a direct, punchy approach that lets the lyrics do the heavy lifting.
This new release follows on from his previous single, “Take Out Some Insurance,” which has already been getting some love over at BBC Radio 2. If you want to hear more about the new material, Sunjay is set to have a chinwag with Cerys Matthews on The Blues Show this coming Monday, 30th March.
His upcoming album, Split The Sheets, isn’t due out until 18th September 2026, but he’s keeping himself busy on the road before then. His live shows are always a masterclass in intricate guitar work and soulful delivery. You can catch him at various folk and blues clubs across the UK throughout May and June.
