The enigmatic Mortiis is back with a haunting new vision. The Norwegian pioneer of dungeon synth and industrial rock has just unveiled the title track and music video for his upcoming full-length album, Ghosts of Europa, set for release on 26th June 2026 via Prophecy Productions.
The new single is a star-studded affair, featuring the ethereal vocals of Sarah Jezebel Deva (known for her work with Cradle of Filth and The Kovenant) and Laurie Ann Haus, alongside synth contributions from Tangerine Dream’s Thorsten Quaeschning. Mixed by the legendary Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, System of a Down), the track is a dark, cinematic exploration that Mortiis himself describes as having a “strange, mysterious, and choral” identity that felt “sadly prophetic” during its creation.
Ghosts of Europa marks a significant moment in Mortiis’ long and winding career, which began with Emperor in the early 90s before spawning the influential “Era I” dungeon synth period and later evolving into industrial and electronic rock. This new record was birthed from years of “misery, poverty, and disdain,” and features guest spots from members of Arch Enemy, Skinny Puppy, and Ragnarok. We’ve been following his journey for years, from the industrial decay of 2017’s The Great Corrupter to catching his atmospheric “Era I” tour when it hit Belfast in 2018.
The album will be available in a variety of elaborate formats, including limited sand-filled vinyl and a 60-page artbook edition. Fans can also catch him performing as part of the massive Fortress Festival 2026 lineup later this year.
