If you like your metal served with a side of heavy bass and a massive dose of UK attitude, then you need to get DeadWax on your radar. The Huddersfield outfit have just unleashed their latest single, “Bang On”, and it’s a proper high-octane collision of nu-metal grit and drum & bass energy. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to bounce rather than just stand at the back of the room nodding along.
The single arrives alongside the announcement of their new EP, Nu-K, which is set to drop on 15th May (pre-orders now available). The band, who cut their teeth at raves in Huddersfield and Leeds during their teens, are on a mission to fuse traditional guitar music with the dance genres that defined the UK underground. Think dubstep, jungle, and jump-up DnB delivered with a full live band. Frontman Jake Milburn says they leant into sound design and tone for this one, focusing on pure energy over technicality, and it’s already become a firm favourite during their recent live sets.
It’s been a busy couple of years for the independent quintet. In 2025, they were everywhere – selling out headline rooms across the country and storming stages at the likes of Boomtown and Leeds Festival. They even picked up a support slot with Skindred and headed out on a massive UK tour supporting those masked nu-metal misfits Blackgold.
To celebrate the EP release, DeadWax have lined up a string of UK dates including headline shows in London and Bristol. They’re also set to appear at 2000trees and Burn It Down Festival later this summer. If you’ve never seen them live, now is the time to change that before they start outgrowing the club circuit. Tickets for most shows available here.
