Anneke van Giersbergen looks forward with new EP ‘La Mort’ – new video streaming now

While 2025 has been a massive year for nostalgia following the 30th anniversary of Mandylion, Anneke van Giersbergen isn’t just resting on her laurels with The Gathering. The Dutch songstress has announced a brand-new solo EP titled La Mort, set for release on 27th March 2026.

This new collection is the second part of her ambitious triptych project, La Vie, La Mort, L’Amour. It follows a hugely emotional period for Anneke, written in the wake of losing both of her parents within just two months of each other. While the Mandylion reunion shows have been a triumph, leading to a full slate of festival dates for 2026, this solo work remains the place where she processes her most personal journeys.

To give us a taste of what’s coming, the first single “Red Sky” is out today. It’s a track that balances that unmistakable vocal power with a bit of a restless, driving energy. You can check out the official music video below. Anneke has noted that while the EP is titled La Mort (Death), the songs aren’t all literal. One track, “Sail Towards The Sun”, is a direct tribute to her father, inspired by memories of family holidays on the seaworthy sailboat he built himself.

Recorded with her full live band to keep things feeling organic, the EP will land on digital platforms first, followed by a Record Store Day exclusive vinyl edition on 18th April. We’ve been following Anneke’s various projects for years, from her prog collaborations to her solo acoustic sets — you can dive into some of our previous coverage right here.

La Mort tracklist:

  1. “Fade In Fade Out”
  2. “Handle Me With Care”
  3. “Red Sky”
  4. “Sail Towards The Sun”
