Malevolence drop surprise new single / video “Silhouette”

Sheffield’s finest, Malevolence, have decided to keep us all on our toes by dropping a brand new single out of nowhere. The track, titled “Silhouette”, arrived just in time for the Valentine’s weekend, but don’t expect the usual mosh-pit fodder from the Steel City titans this time around.

The band have always been capable of showing a bit of heart, but “Silhouette” sees them diving headfirst into ballad territory. It’s a moody, bluesy number that lets guitarist and vocalist Konan Hall really show off what he can do behind the mic. It’s a bit of a departure from the usual ear-splitting breakdowns, but it proves these lads have more strings to their bow than just being the heaviest band in the room. They’ve described it as a step outside their comfort zone, trading aggressive riffs for something a bit more vulnerable and stripped back.

In a massive move for the group, this track also marks the start of a new era. They’ve gone fully independent, releasing the music via their own label, MLVLTD MUSIC. It’s a bold step, but considering they’ve spent years building a fierce reputation through graft and DIY ethics, it feels like the natural next move.

The surprise drop follows a massive 2025 which saw their latest record, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, smash into the charts and earn them a legendary secret set at Download Festival. If you want to catch them live this year, they’ll be appearing at Slam Dunk Festival this May for its 20th anniversary.
