Frozen Soul get straight to the point with new rager “Absolute Zero”

Texas death metal crew Frozen Soul aren’t exactly known for messing about, and they’ve proven it again by dropping a ferocious new track titled “Absolute Zero”. Clocking in at a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 53 seconds, it’s a total punch to the gut that ditches the bells and whistles in favour of pure, unadulterated aggression.

The song is a massive nod to the band’s roots in punk, hardcore, and old-school death metal. Frontman Chad Green didn’t hold back when explaining the motivation behind the track, noting that it serves as a firm stance against authoritarianism. To drive the point home, the accompanying video features Green taking a massive sledgehammer – cheekily dubbed “icebreaker” – to a frozen skull. As he puts it, “The best ice is crushed ice.”

Since they burst out of the underground with 2019’s Encased in Ice, these guys have been a breath of fresh air. They’ve managed to capture that legendary Bolt Thrower and Obituary vibe while making it feel entirely their own. After the success of their full-lengths Crypt of Ice and Glacial Domination, they’ve become one of the most exciting names in the next generation of metal.
