Bloodred unleash new album ‘Colours Of Pain’ and drop “Ashes” lyric video

German blackened death metal outfit Bloodred have officially unleashed their latest slab of heavy, Colours Of Pain, via Massacre Records. To celebrate the release, the band have also shared a lyric video for the album’s opening track, “Ashes”. It’s a blistering start to the record that sets the tone perfectly—relentless drumming, sharp riffs, and a dark, atmospheric weight that doesn’t let up.

The new record sees the duo – Ron Merz on vocals and guitars, and Joris Nijenhuis on drums – diving deep into some pretty heavy themes. While “Ashes” deals with the personal sting of betrayal and disillusionment, the rest of the album isn’t exactly light reading either. It covers everything from societal decay and environmental collapse to the fallout of the pandemic. It’s a grounded, gritty look at suffering in its many forms, all wrapped up in a crushing mid-tempo groove and savage blast beats.

We’ve been keeping an eye on this one since the band first announced the record and released the title track back in December. Produced and mixed by Alexander Krull at Mastersound Studio, the sound is massive and cinematic, matching the striking artwork by Stefan Heilemann. There’s even a guest spot from Skálmöld’s Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson, who pops up to provide a cracking guitar solo on the track “Mindvirus”.

If you’re into metal that packs an emotional punch without losing its edge, Colours Of Pain is well worth a spin. You can grab it now in various formats and see why these guys are becoming a real force in the German scene.
