Metalcore titans August Burns Red are officially back where they belong. The Pennsylvania quintet has announced their triumphant return to Fearless Records, marking the occasion with the release of an absolutely massive new single titled “Behemoth”. After over two decades of pushing the boundaries of the genre, the band – comprising Jake Luhrs, JB Brubaker, Brent Rambler, Dustin Davidson, and Matt Grenier – are proving they’ve still got plenty of fire left in the belly.
The new track is exactly what the title suggests: a total monster. “Behemoth” balances Herculean breakdowns and battering ram percussion with those battle-cry choruses that have become an ABR staple. Guitarist JB Brubaker mentioned that the song went through more revisions than almost anything they’ve written, but the result is one of their heaviest and most raw deliveries to date. Lyrically, frontman Jake Luhrs explains the track deals with facing past pains to find a path toward rebirth and healing.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the lads for a long time here at Moshville Times, whether it’s catching their legendary live energy or charting their growth. You can check out our review of their chaotic London show back in 2022 to see just how mental their pits can get.
To celebrate the new era and the single, August Burns Red are heading out on a massive North American co-headline run this spring with The Amity Affliction. While we’re still waiting on some UK dates to be added to the calendar, fans across the pond can catch them on the “Spring Horizons” tour throughout April and May, with support from Boundaries and Heavensgate.
