Swedish extreme metal juggernauts Arch Enemy have officially charged into a new chapter, ending months of frantic speculation by releasing their explosive new single, “To The Last Breath”. This marks the band’s first blast of fresh material since their latest album, Blood Dynasty, and serves as a crushing statement of intent for 2026.
The track is a milestone for the band as it features the debut of their newly unveiled vocalist, Lauren Hart. Formerly of Once Human, Hart steps into the role following the departure of Alissa White-Gluz late last year. While the metal world was busy guessing who would take the mic—especially after the band and former singer Angela Gossow blacked out their social media accounts—it turns out Hart was the ace up Michael Amott’s sleeve. Her arrival brings a fresh level of ferocity to the band’s trademark melodic death metal sound.
Founder and guitarist Michael Amott is clearly chuffed with the new recruit, noting that working with Lauren has been an exceptional experience. He’s praised her dedication and the rare level of excellence she brings to the fold. Lyrically, “To The Last Breath” deals with dismantling deception and fighting back once you realise you’ve been fed poison—a “do or die” anthem that Amott says aligns perfectly with his original vision for the band.
To celebrate the news, the band aren’t just sticking to the big stages. They’ve announced a run of intimate European club shows for summer 2026, appropriately dubbed the “Back To The Root Of All Evil” tour. For UK fans, this is a proper treat. They’ll be hitting Manchester’s Rebellion for the first time, and returning to The Underworld in London—a venue they haven’t graced since way back in December 2002. These shows are a massive departure from the usual arenas, offering punters a chance to see the new line-up in a raw, sweat-soaked environment.
The band are clearly ready to rage, and with Blood Dynasty still ringing in our ears, this new era looks set to be a belter. We’ve kept a close eye on their recent moves, even featuring them in our 2025 year-end highlights, and this news certainly ups the ante for the year ahead.
UK tour dates:
- 10th Aug – London, The Underworld
- 11th Aug – Manchester, Rebellion
