Nottingham newcomers KEE drop debut single / video “Sound”

There is a new noise coming out of Nottingham, and it goes by the name of KEE. This alternative psychedelic electro outfit might have only formed last year, but they are already making waves with the release of their debut single, the simply titled “Sound”.

Described rather vividly as “Portishead on steroids”, the band are looking to carve out a niche where atmospheric electronics meet a heavier, grittier edge. It is a bold comparison to make, evoking the ghosts of the Bristol trip-hop scene but promising a bit more sonic muscle. If you are into music that bridges the gap between fear and hope – as their bio rather poetically puts it—this might be one to keep on your radar.

While KEE might be a new name on the poster, the musicians behind it are far from green. The lineup brings a wealth of experience to the table, with members having previously recorded at the legendary Maida Vale studios (specifically MV4, home of the John Peel Sessions) and secured airplay on BBC Introducing. They are also road-tested veterans, having performed at major festivals like Kendal Calling and the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as sweating it out in iconic venues such as London’s 100 Club.

The band made their live debut at Nottingham’s Waterfront Festival back in 2025. Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, they have already been booked to play Rough Trade in Nottingham and the King’s Cross Water Rats in London. “Sound” is available now on Bandcamp and various streaming services (though not Spotify just yet), and you can check out the accompanying video on their YouTube channel.
