It’s hard to believe it’s been twenty years since Motionless In White first kicked into gear, but the Scranton metalcore titans are celebrating the milestone in style. The band have just unleashed a brand new single, “Afraid Of The Dark”, complete with a music video, just days before they touch down on UK soil for a massive arena run.
The new track is described as a bridge between the band’s past, present, and future, fusing that classic metallic fury with the electronic elements that have become a staple of their sound in recent years. It’s a proper fist-in-the-air anthem, clearly designed to get the pits moving when they hit the stage next week.
Frontman Chris Motionless opened up about the track’s inspiration, looking back at the band’s humble – and slightly disastrous – beginnings. “20 years ago, I stepped into a tour van with my best friends, having no idea what was next every mile we drove down the road,” he says. “Funny enough, we broke down two hours later in the AM hours in a snowstorm. We had to sleep on the floor of a rest stop on the side of the Interstate and wait what felt like forever for a tow truck.”
Despite the rocky start, the drive remained. “There was never a doubt that we would find a way to live out our biggest dream and set a precedent for anything standing in our way,” Chris continues. “On our 20-year anniversary, that spirit is burning just as hot as it was on that day. We refuse to settle, refuse to let any opposing force stop us from clawing our way up from hell, and we refuse to fear the dark of the unknown.”

The timing couldn’t be better. The band are bringing their biggest production yet to the UK and Ireland starting on Thursday, 5th February. They’ll be joined by Dayseeker and Make Them Suffer, making this a lineup you really don’t want to miss. Following the European stint, the lads head back across the pond to support Bring Me The Horizon on their US tour.
