The Moshville Times - Carpenter Brut unveils ‘Leather Temple’, the final chapter of the Leather trilogy (video streaming now)

French synthwave icon Carpenter Brut has announced that the wait is nearly over for the final instalment of his Leather trilogy. The new album, titled Leather Temple, is set for release on 27th February via No Quarter Prod / Virgin Records. Pre-orders available now.

For those who have been following the saga, this record follows the glam-rock celebration of 2018’s Leather Teeth and the slasher-horror vibes of 2022’s Leather Terror. While the previous albums dealt with the serial killer anti-hero Bret Halford wreaking revenge, this new chapter throws the timeline forward to 2077.

The concept sounds like proper sci-fi madness. The world is in ruins, run by a transhuman elite called the Overlords. The story is set in “Midwichpolis”, a neon-lit dystopia ruled by a tyrant named Iron Tusk. In a twist of fate, the rebels – known as the Horde – dig up our old friend Bret Halford (aka Leather Teeth) from a frozen grave in the slums. They turn him into a half-man, half-machine weapon to take down the regime. It’s essentially Mad Max meets Blade Runner with a banging soundtrack.

Musically, Leather Temple promises to shift gears again. Moving away from the 80s focus, this one dives into a saturated 90s electro atmosphere. Expect it to be darker, more industrial, and cinematic, driven by distorted layers and sharp beats.

Carpenter Brut will be taking this new show on the road across Europe and the USA in March 2026. For fans in the UK, there is one exclusive date to mark in your calendars prior to a return in August when they’re headlining the Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock.
