Lancaster rockers Massive Wagons have announced the upcoming release of a new live album, capturing a historic moment in their hometown’s musical history. Titled Live At The Great Hall, the record is scheduled to land on the 27th of March 2026 via Earache Records and you can pre-order it now. To accompany the announcement, the band has unveiled the first single and video from the release, a high-energy rendition of “Fun While It Lasted”.
The album documents two sold-out performances recorded on the 19th and 20th of September 2025 at Lancaster University’s Great Hall. The venue holds significant prestige, having previously hosted legends such as The Who, Black Sabbath, and Queen. However, it had stood silent for rock music for forty years until Massive Wagons brought the noise back. The performance was widely praised, with original promoter Barry Lucas—author of When Rock Went To College—noting the significance of the event.
Guitarist Adam Thistlewaite explained that while the band had considered a live album for years, the timing finally aligned with this specific event. “In these Lancaster University Great Hall shows, we have a great story in bringing live music back to an iconic venue,” he stated. Frontman Barry Mills added that the release finally captures the specific atmosphere, joy, and “feel” of a Wagons gig that they have wanted to bottle for a long time.
To celebrate the launch, the band will host three intimate shows at the Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre on the 27th and 28th of March. With only 60 tickets available per show, these events will feature live performances, Q&A sessions, and conversations with special guests. In addition to these special events, the band has confirmed a run of tour dates for 2026.
