Scarborough rock outfit This House We Built have today unleashed their brand new album, Get Out Of The Rain. Available now across all major platforms, the release is accompanied by the premiere of a powerful music video for the title track, “Rain” (scroll down to watch it).
“Rain” is the fourth single to be lifted from the band’s second full-length record. The accompanying video sees the band pushing their creative limits, having been filmed in a purpose-built “rain room” with a full water tank setup. Vocalist and guitarist Scott Wardell reveals that the shoot was not without its casualties:
“It was probably the most challenging video we’ve done so far. We had a lot of fun with it, but I did have to sacrifice a guitar in the process. Guitars and rain don’t mix, kids, don’t try this at home!”
The video tackles serious themes of mental health and the struggle of watching someone fade away. Wardell describes the song as a “lifeline,” intended to offer hope and reassurance to those who need it most.
Musically, the track was a collaborative triumph for the band. While bassist Wayne Dowkes-White provided the initial musical foundation, the anthemic chorus and lyrical depth were fleshed out by the entire group, with additional input from Dave Boothroyd. The result is a track that the band cites as one of the most challenging yet rewarding on the album.
Get Out Of The Rain follows a relentless three-year period of gigging for the band, which has seen them evolve into a tight musical unit. Their momentum has continued to build throughout 2025, with standout performances at major festivals including Call of the Wild, Love Rocks, and Maid of Stone. The new album has already garnered critical acclaim, with some outlets hailing it as one of the strongest releases of the year.
