RØRY unveils heavy new anthem “Dead Girl Walking” and confirms Download 2026 slot

Following the massive success of her top 10 debut album Restoration, alternative artist RØRY continues to embrace her heavier side with the release of a brand new single, “Dead Girl Walking”. The track is out now and arrives alongside an official music video.

The new single serves as a statement of intent from the 40-year-old singer-songwriter, who has recently been tearing up stages across the UK and Europe. Building on the metallic edge of her previous single “Degradation”, “Dead Girl Walking” sees RØRY diving further into a more aggressive, anthem-filled sound. It is a sonic representation of the “inextinguishable fire” that has seen her rise through the ranks of the alternative scene, culminating in a Heavy Music Award win for Best UK Breakthrough Artist earlier this year.

Discussing the defiant attitude behind the new track, RØRY says:

“They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks… allow me to fucking disagree.”

The release coincides with the huge announcement that RØRY will be performing at Download Festival 2026. She joins a stellar line-up that includes headliners Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses, and Linkin Park. True to form, she celebrated the news with a viral video in which she jokingly criticised the festival for booking a “delusional old ADHD bitch”, proving that her self-deprecating humour remains as sharp as her songwriting.

RØRY’s recent creative output has been driven by a desire to explore emotions like anger and rage—territory she admits is new to her. While Restoration dealt with healing and sobriety, this new era is about harnessing those darker feelings and finding power in them. With more news expected in the coming months, “Dead Girl Walking” suggests that RØRY is only just getting started.
