The Moshville Times - Malefic Throne unleash lyric video for new track “Athirst for Dissonance”

US death metal trio Malefic Throne have revealed a new lyric video for their latest track, “Athirst for Dissonance”. The song is taken from the band’s highly anticipated debut studio album, The Conquering Darkness, which is scheduled for release on 28th November via Agonia Records.

Malefic Throne features a formidable lineup of death metal veterans: guitarist Gene Palubicki (Angelcorpse, Perdition Temple), vocalist and bassist Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel), and drummer John Longstreth (Origin, Hate Eternal, ex-Angelcorpse). The group was originally formed by Palubicki in 2020, although the members’ history dates back much further. The trio first crossed paths at Morrisound Studios in 1997, during a time when both Angelcorpse and Morbid Angel were recording their respective albums side-by-side.

Drummer John Longstreth reflected on the band’s origins: “This band’s roots can be traced all the way back to the mid-90s when Gene, Steve, and I first met at Morrisound studios. It’s an amazing feeling to see those old conversations and hang outs develop into a true celebration of blistering infernal death metal. I have no doubt that this union will be absolutely crushing.”

Gene Palubicki emphasises that the material on The Conquering Darkness bears the distinct imprint of all three musicians. The synthesis of their individual styles—writing, delivery, and execution—has resulted in a dynamic form of death metal that stands as its own unique entity, rather than just a sum of its parts.

The new album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Menegroth The Thousand Caves by Colin Marston, known for his work with Gorguts and Atheist. The striking cover artwork was created by renowned artist Daniele Valeriani, with the band’s logo crafted by Christophe Szpajdel.
