Brussels-based electro-fun metal act Boum Patat has unveiled a new music video for the track “Manneken Pis”. The song is taken from the band’s recent album, Ma Belgitude, which is out now via Wormholdeath.
The video itself is described as a hybrid experience. It blends raw live performance footage with a surreal visual aesthetic intended to represent the “universe inside Boum Patat’s mind”. As the title suggests, the track and its visuals are directly inspired by Brussels’ iconic landmark statue, the Manneken Pis. The band aims to capture their signature blend of humour and intensity, turning a cultural symbol into a high-energy musical statement. “Manneken Pis” showcases their playful approach to the metal genre, fusing heavy riffs with pulsating electronic rhythms.
Boum Patat is the brainchild of Belgian musician Olivier Wittenberg. Fans may recognize him as the former drummer and composer for Manic Movement, who toured Europe in the 2000s with established acts like Kreator, Moonspell, and Psychotic Waltz, including appearances at major festivals like Graspop Metal Meeting.
After a long hiatus, Wittenberg returned with this self-produced solo debut, Ma Belgitude. The project aims to break the usual codes of metal, mixing groove, industrial, and old-school electronic sounds with distinctly Belgian humour and offbeat themes. While Wittenberg handles vocals, songwriting, and most instrumentation in the studio, the live iteration of Boum Patat expands to a trio, featuring Laurent Soulasse on bass and Maxime Demulder on drums.
You can watch the new video for “Manneken Pis” online now, and the album Ma Belgitude is available to stream on all major platforms.
