Marseille-based hardcore outfit Wake The Dead have released a thought-provoking new lyric video for their track, “Binary Anthem”. The song is the fourth video to be released from their upcoming fifth album, which is set to drop on Halloween (October 31st) via Useless Pride Records. The new record was produced by Flo from French metalcore giants Landmvrks, promising a sound that is both raw and emotionally intense.
The concept behind “Binary Anthem” serves as a sharp commentary on the growing, and often insidious, influence of artificial intelligence in modern society. In a bold and ironic move, the band decided to use an AI to generate the song’s lyrics. As the band’s Yvan explains, the idea was born from the observation that many people pay little attention to lyrics. “To push this logic to the limit, we let an AI generate the lyrics for this track,” he states. “And what better way to highlight that choice than with a lyric video?”
Beyond the creative irony, the song and video carry a serious message. Wake The Dead aim to shine a light on the increasing role AI plays in our lives, denouncing the monopoly it is slowly gaining over our personal decisions and even our creativity. The video illustrates the potential consequences this growing dependency could have not just on our society, but on the planet itself. It’s a powerful statement from a band known for its hard-hitting and direct approach, challenging listeners to think critically about the technology shaping our world.
The upcoming album follows the band’s previous video, “Your Last Stand”, which was filmed during their performances at Xtrem Fest and Sylak Open Air, capturing the raw energy of their live shows which have earned them a loyal and ever-growing audience.
