Industrial metal outfit Black Satellite are celebrating the release of their second full-length album, Aftermath, by sharing a new music video for the track “Doom Or Die”. The song, described as an “apocalyptic party anthem”, is taken from the new record, which is out now.
The band artfully fuses industrial and metal influences to create a sound that’s both dark and edgy. Vocalist and creative lead Larissa Vale commented on the inspiration behind the new single: “‘Doom or Die’ was a particularly fun song to write. I wanted to go in a completely different direction and write a party song for the end of the world! In a way it’s like assuming an alter ego and getting to explore a concept from an entirely new angle that functions outside of mundane reality.”
The accompanying video was filmed in Las Vegas, an experience Vale admits was challenging. “We really did feel like we were fighting for our lives in the middle of summer in Vegas, which in hindsight, probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do!”
Aftermath was self-produced by the band alongside Kane Churko (Papa Roach, In This Moment), with mixing handled by veteran producer Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Filter). Vale describes the album as an exploration of darker themes, stating, “Each song is a snapshot into various personal experiences in my life and my mindset at the time. There’s definitely a good mix of sonic components on the record ranging from heavier songs to more melodic ones as well.”
The new album is the follow-up to their debut, Endless, which was hailed by Alternative Press as one of their “12 Bands You Need To Know.” Billboard also praised the title track, noting that “The sound of ‘Endless’ is absolutely huge…Syrupy vocal hooks abound, drizzled over whole mountain ranges of studio-shined guitar tapestries.”
