Spectral release theatrical video for “Saints Of Excess”

Heavy alternative quartet Spectral have brought their charismatic track “Saints Of Excess” to life with a new video filmed in the enchanting setting of a Victorian theatre. The video serves as a celebration of creativity and ‘otherness’, featuring talented artists performing acts that include a bed of nails and knife juggling alongside the band’s own performance.

The track is taken from the band’s recently unveiled debut EP, 12:12.

Fletch (keys, samples and guitars) had this to say about the unique video shoot:

I’m not usually one to be guided by ‘gut feelings’, but when Kelly proposed doing a theatrical shoot at a small venue in Sheffield, I just knew that it was the right thing to do and we were going to end up with something very special! It certainly helped that we’ve built a network of super talented/lovely people who were all able to buy into the vision and make it so much more than the sum of its parts.

One of our aims was to have a really diverse range of performances and also aesthetic within the audience to give that feeling of being at a show and I think we achieved that.

Something that I think that comes through is how much fun and how effortless the day felt – often videos can be a challenge due to timescales and things going wrong which causes stress and and impacts the end product. In this case though everything came together nicely and it was a lovely day with wonderful people.

We hope you have as much fun watching it as we had in making it!

Hailing from the north of England, Spectral’s sound is comprised of catchy hooks drawn from pop and alt-rock, enticing electronics, and fierce guitars, all fuelled by the emotional power of Clark Kelly’s vocals. For the EP, the band worked with JJ Catalyst (Mothica, Hollywood Undead) and Ruairi O’Flaherty (Lana Del Rey, Paramore), conjuring a thrilling combination of heavy riffs and pop sensibilities. The band is completed by Matt Blore on drums and Luke Fitzpatrick on bass.

The debut EP, 12:12, is out now and available on all major streaming platforms.
