Slash has announced a new electrifying live album and concert film, Live at the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival, which will be released on Friday, November 7th via earMUSIC. The first single, a searing cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Oh Well (Live)”, is out today.
The new release captures an electrifying performance from July 17, 2024, at the Mission Ballroom in Colorado. Touring as part of the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival, Slash and the formidable ensemble known as Slash’s Blues Ball deliver a gritty, soulful set paying homage to the legends who shaped rock and blues. The band features Slash on guitar, joined by longtime collaborator Teddy “ZigZag” Andreadis (keyboards, harmonica, vocals), Tash Neal (guitar, vocals), Johnny Griparic (bass), and Michael Jerome (drums).
Together, they tear through a blistering set of standards and rock staples, paying tribute to icons like Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and Elmore James. The set includes smouldering takes on “Killing Floor”, “Born Under a Bad Sign”, “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”, and “Stormy Monday”. The performance also features the debut of a brand-new Slash original, “Metal Chestnut”.
The concert film is intercut with candid, behind-the-scenes interviews where Slash reflects on his deep personal connection to the blues. The release will be available in various formats, including 2CD+DVD, 2CD+Blu-ray, and a heavyweight 3LP gatefold vinyl.
