Scottish metal titans Eld Varg unleash new single ahead of second album

Glasgow heavy metal trio Eld Varg have dropped their thunderous new single “Darkest Waves,” the first taste of their forthcoming second album Destroyer, which lands on Friday 14th November. Watch the video by scrolling down, or stream it on Spotify.

Forged in the heart of Scotland’s underground, Eld Varg have built a reputation for delivering metal that’s as crushing as it is melodic, blending Norse-inspired themes with groove, hooks, and sheer power. What began as frontman Ollie Noakes’ solo project quickly evolved into a full band following the release of 2023’s debut album One Man Army, which saw them graduate from opening slots to headline stages in rapid succession.

Now a hardened three-piece — Ollie Noakes (guitar, vocals), Andy Hedges (drums, vocals) and Micah Snow (bass, vocals) — the band have carved out their place on the UK circuit. Live highlights have included sharing stages with Florence Black, Anvil, Ye Banished Privateers, Tytan, Brave the Seas, and Tailgunner, alongside festival slots at Wildfire, Call of the Wild, and a headline appearance at Winter Warmer Festival, where they earned acclaim as both the “discovery of the weekend” and “favourite band of the festival.”

Destroyer promises to be a defining step forward for Eld Varg. Heavier, more anthemic, and forged in unity, the album channels resilience through Viking symbolism and battle imagery. “It was written during a period of uncertainty,” explains Noakes. “It’s about finding strength when the path isn’t clear — and about pushing through the storm.”

With “Darkest Waves” setting the tone, fans can expect Eld Varg to unleash their fiercest work to date. The album arrives in November, followed by a UK tour running through late November and December — a campaign that’s shaping up to be their most relentless yet.
