Swedish power metal titans Sabaton have today released their new single, “Crossing The Rubicon”. The track is a special collaboration featuring singer Jonny Hawkins and guitarist Mark Vollelunga of Nothing More.
The single is taken from the band’s highly anticipated new studio album, Legends, which is set for release on October 17th via Better Noise Music, marking the band’s debut on the label.
“Working with our American brothers in Nothing More on our new single ‘Crossing The Rubicon’ has been an absolute pleasure,” says frontman Joakim Brodén. “There’s something powerful about bringing two worlds together in music.”
Nothing More guitarist Mark Vollelunga adds, “We are very honoured and excited to release this collaboration with our newfound Swedish labelmates Sabaton. It was fun to do something a little different than we were used to, and we’re stoked they wanted us to put our special Nothing More sauce on their Scandinavian Metal.”
Throughout the aptly titled Legends, Sabaton delve into some of history’s greatest characters, including Joan of Arc, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Miyamoto Musashi. “Crossing The Rubicon” focuses on Julius Caesar, whose rise to prominence and eventual assassination reshaped the Roman Empire. Bassist Pär Sundström comments, “Everyone knows the phrase ‘Veni, vidi, vici.’ It’s iconic, just like Caesar himself. He was a force of nature who reshaped an entire empire. And his story… well it’s pure Sabaton material.”
Legends marks the first time that every band member has contributed to the songwriting process. The new single follows four previously released tracks from the album: “The Duelist”, “Lightning at the Gates”, “Hordes of Khan” and “Templars”.
Later this year, Sabaton will embark on ‘The Legendary Tour’, with UK dates as follows:
- 4th Dec – The O2 Arena, London
- 5th Dec – Co-op Live, Manchester
- 6th Dec – Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham
