Northern Italy’s classic doom metallers, Warcoe, have released their formidable new studio album, Upon Tall Thrones, via the Californian label Ripple Music. To celebrate the release, the trio has also unveiled a new video for the track “Brown Witch,” which premiered exclusively over at Doomed & Stoned.
Hailing from Pesaro, Warcoe delivers a sound steeped in doom’s primordial essence, channelling the Sabbathian weight of the genre’s pioneers, the raw gloom of Saint Vitus, and the unmistakable swagger of Trouble’s golden-era riffage. With their third full-length album, the band ascends to darker, heavier, and more hypnotic territories. Upon Tall Thrones sees the trio expertly spin tales of arcane fantasy and mortal frailty into riffs that crush and melodies that linger like a curse.
Since their formation, Warcoe has carved a significant niche in the underground with a sound that is both a homage to the old gods and a fresh hell of its own. Their style is slow-burning, groove-heavy, and laced with a potent stoner metal venom. The band’s debut album, The Giant’s Dream, first emerged like a monolith from the depths, earning praise before being granted a proper physical release by Regain Records.
Their 2023 follow-up, A Place for Demons, solidified their reputation as a true force to be reckoned with, proving they were far more than a simple revival act. The album was met with critical acclaim, landing at an impressive #2 on the Doom Charts’ Best of December list and #37 for the entire year.
Now, Warcoe is set to unleash its raw doom power upon the masses with Upon Tall Thrones, which is available now on LP, CD, and all major streaming services.
