Yorkshire bands know a thing or two about really good riffs. From Bring Me The Horizon to Def Leppard, quality riffs have been coming from “God’s Own County” for decades. Upholding this most noble of traditions are Leeds alt-rockers Foxhaunt. Having taken their first steps towards a heavier sound on their recent single “The Daylight Between Us”, the band has discovered that they can crank it up with some very impressive results.
This brings us nicely to their brand new single, aptly titled “A New Beginning”. With an opening riff worthy of any of their fellow Yorkshire natives and an arena-sized chorus, “A New Beginning” grabs the listener from the opening bar and takes them on a seriously enjoyable musical ride.
A New Chapter
The band has collectively commented on the shift that their new single brings:
““A New Beginning” marks a powerful turning point for us — both thematically and sonically. The song explores the journey of reclaiming one’s identity and freedom after being entangled in a toxic, manipulative dynamic. It’s about seeing through deception, processing emotional fallout, and ultimately choosing to start over.
From a musical standpoint, this release represents a significant evolution for us as a band. We leaned into a heavier, more eclectic sound that reflects where we are creatively. This track felt like the ideal way to introduce that shift — darker, more dynamic, and unapologetically bold.
The writing process pushed us further than anything we’ve done before. We deliberately stepped outside of our comfort zone, experimenting with new sounds and chord progressions. Vocally, we drew inspiration from artists like Bad Omens and Bring Me The Horizon, aiming to craft melodies that are both haunting and hook-driven.”
Live Shows
“A New Beginning” is a fine demonstration of a band refining their skills, something they have been doing all year. Whether selling out The Key Club in Leeds or making the final round of Kerrang! Radio’s “The Deal” competition, 2025 has been a very good year for Foxhaunt.
If you would like to see them playing their new material live, you have a few chances coming up:
- September 19th – Birmingham, The Flapper (headline)
- September 20th – Norwich, Waterfront (supporting Omega Bad)
- September 21st – London, The Grace (headline)
