Captain Kaiser unleash “Dancefloor”

Antwerp’s punk rock outfit Captain Kaiser has unleashed their latest single, “Dancefloor”, offering a potent blend of high-energy punk and a touch of melancholy. The track serves as a precursor to their highly anticipated fourth album, Belgian Boy, which is set for release on October 10 via [PIAS] Recordings.

Having established themselves over the past eight years as a prominent punk act in Belgium, Captain Kaiser, still firmly rooted in the Kempen region, draws comparisons to the raw intensity of High Vis and the unruly spirit of Viagra Boys. Frontman Sascha Vansant views punk not merely as a musical genre but as an uncompromising, loud, and authentic mindset.

“Dancefloor” deviates from the heavier sounds of previous singles like “Roadkill” and “Moldy”, or the atmospheric post-rock of “Playground”. Instead, it introduces an upbeat riff that will resonate with fans of The Cure and DIIV, embracing darker themes while allowing a sense of light to penetrate. The accompanying music video, directed by long-term collaborator Vincent Van Hoorick, captures the essence of a traditional Flemish wedding – joyful, chaotic, and endearingly awkward – providing a fitting visual narrative for the song’s exploration of self-confrontation within a captivating riff.

Captain Kaiser continues to demonstrate that punk can offer solace, celebration, and connection, proving that “Dancefloor” is not an escape but an embrace of one’s inner world, all wrapped in an infectious sound.
