Sewer Dwellers is a brand new band from Cracow, Poland which embodies a fresh perspective on the modern blend of deathcore and death metal while incorporating some symphonic elements.
The lyrical essence of the band is captured within its name – an English expression used to describe residents of the sewer tunnels. The fall of the communist regime in 1989 and the ensuing changes led to the closure of local orphanages in Bucharest and the expulsion of thousands of children onto the streets. Deprived of any prospects for a better life, orphans descended underground, inhabiting local sewers and started their own new ‘civilization’, which continues to this day. ‘Sewer Dwellers’ symbolise issues and themes from which the world would like to avert its gaze, but which the band would like to address.
Sewer Dwellers formally began activity in 2019 by releasing their debut album Fate of a Maggot, featuring guest appearances by artists such as Jamie Hanks (I Declare War) and CJ McCreery (ex-Lorna Shore, Immortal Disfigurement). Due to the challenges posed by the pandemic, which hindered live promotion of the material, Sewer Dwellers directed their energy towards creating new material in the form of singles. The first one of these, “The Cassandra Complex”, was released in November 2022 along with a music video. Since then, the band has been actively (and successfully) performing, sharing the stage with bands such as Aborted, Fit For An Autopsy, Antigama, and Sceptic, eventually winning the Road To Mystic competition in February 2024, securing a spot in this year’s line-up of the legendary Mystic Festival!
On March 15, 2024, the band released another single titled “Letting No Sin Abide”, this time offering their listeners a journey into the world of oriental musical influences.
