That’s System of a Violin. I made that up, but it works. Anyway, check this out for a pretty awesome cover of System of a Down‘s “Toxicity” by three fairly attractive women as performed on two electric violins and a drum kit.

This would have been a good one to include in my When musical worlds collide post. Do you know if this was a one off or do they do this sort of thing on a regular basis? I’ll go and explore YouTube to see what it says about them. :-)
Everyone be nice to David as he’s one of my course supervisors…! I’ll add your music blog to my RSS feed as well. In the meantime, I also highly recommend that you check out this earlier post about Van Canto, a German metal band featuring one drummer and five vocalists! I’ve got their album and it’s superb. As for the violin girls, I think this is a one-off but I’d be interested in hearing more myself.
Holy Mac, that is BRILLIANT.
Just needs a bald man with a moustache to rant into a microphone and then it’d be perfect…
I’m often impressed by how well metal songs stand up to purely instrumental adaptation. I’ve got a couple of albums of string versions of various acts and they’re all pretty good.
