Progressive metal polymath Devin Townsend has stunned fans by announcing an end to his touring hiatus. After previously suggesting an indefinite break from the road following the live debut of his massive project The Moth, Hevy Devy is set to return to the stage in 2026 for the “Metamorphosis” solo tour.
The tour is described as a rare, unfiltered opportunity to see Townsend performing alone, celebrating a vast anthology that spans over 30 studio albums. Fans can expect a career-spanning setlist covering everything from Punky Brüster and Casualties of Cool to the Devin Townsend Project and the legendary Strapping Young Lad. As is tradition with Devin, the shows promise to be unpredictable, featuring a rotating setlist and the usual brand of bizarre surprises.
“The Moth feels like the culmination of all my musical experiences and my journey in life so far,” Devin explains. “This opportunity to get out there, tell my story with this renewed clarity, and celebrate my entire anthology of music offers an opportunity to connect with the audience who made this all happen.”
The announcement comes as Townsend prepares for the release of the studio version of The Moth, due out on 29th May via InsideOut Music (pre-order now). While some fans were hoping for a full orchestral production of the new material, Devin admits he wants to “walk again before we fly,” focusing on the intimate connection of these solo performances first.
