The Newport legends Skindred have just dropped some massive news, confirming a headline tour across the UK and Ireland for later this year. The ragga-metal masters are hitting the road to support their ninth studio album, You Got This, and they’re bringing some seriously heavy hitters along for the ride.
The tour includes a massive “Night of the Living Dred” Halloween show at London’s Alexandra Palace, which sounds like it’s going to be one for the history books. Joining them for that spooky spectacular, and the Birmingham date, are nu-metal icons Alien Ant Farm, Spineshank, and Orgy. It’s basically a 2000s kid’s dream lineup, but with the modern fire that only Benji Webbe and the lads can provide.
Drummer Arya Goggins is clearly buzzing about the run, mentioning how much they enjoyed touring with Alien Ant Farm in Europe recently. According to Arya, the Ally Pally show is going to be their biggest Halloween gig yet, packed with surprises. If you’ve ever seen Skindred live, you know the “Newport Helicopter” is going to be out in full force.
The new record, You Got This, follows up the massive success of Smile, which saw the band bag a MOBO and storm the charts. We’ve already had a taste of the new material with “Can I Get A”, which has been rinsed on the radio lately, plus the title track and the banger “This Is The Sound”. It’s everything we love about the band: massive riffs, dancehall vibes, and hooks that’ll be stuck in your head for weeks.
