Heavenly announce first album in 30 years and UK tour dates

It’s been a fair old wait – three decades, to be precise – but indie pop icons Heavenly are finally back in business. The band have announced the release of their first new studio album in thirty years, Highway To Heavenly, which is set to land on February 27th via Skep Wax – pre-orders available now on Bandcamp.

For those who spent the 90s digging through crates for Sarah Records releases or keeping an ear to the ground for the Riot Grrrl movement in Olympia, Heavenly need no introduction. They were the bridge between the sweet melodies of English indie and the fierce, sharp-edged politics of the American underground. While they’ve been away for a long time, the new material suggests they haven’t lost that knack for combining joyful pop music with a serious message.

To give us a taste of what’s to come, they’ve dropped a video for the new single “Excuse Me”. It’s a proper burst of punk energy, channelling the spirit of The Undertones and celebrating a teenage romance with the nerdiest lad in school. You can check out the video below.

The current lineup features original members Amelia Fletcher, Peter Momtchiloff, Cathy Rogers, and Rob Pursey, joined by Ian Button on drums. The band have been open about the long road back, particularly following the tragic loss of original drummer Mathew Fletcher before their fourth album. It’s taken time to heal and find the right rhythm again, but recent sold-out shows suggest the magic is still there.

Highway To Heavenly was recorded in Deptford and Kent, produced by Toby Burroughs. The band are heading out on a “slow-motion international tour” throughout 2026, and thankfully for us, there is a solid run of dates across the UK this spring.
