Finnish folk metal heavyweights Ensiferum have announced they are heading back out on the road. The “Winter Storm Over Europe” tour kicks off in early 2026, and for fans on this side of the Channel, there is just one opportunity to catch the action. The band will be hitting The Dome in London on Sunday, 11th January 2026.
They aren’t coming alone, either. To make it a proper night of melodic metal, they are bringing along German power metal stalwarts Freedom Call as main support, with Austrian symphonic outfit Dragony opening up proceedings. It’s a solid triple bill that promises a fair bit of epic storytelling and soaring choruses.
The tour is in support of Ensiferum’s latest studio effort, Winter Storm. If you haven’t given it a spin yet, it’s a bit of a concept album based on a fantasy narrative penned by bassist Sami Hinkka. Musically, the record came together largely during the lockdown years, with founding guitarist Markus Toivonen challenging himself to find new ways to compose. The result is a record that really leans into the strengths of the current lineup, particularly vocalist/organist Pekka Montin. After joining for 2020’s Thalassic, Montin’s crystal-clear high notes have become a key part of the band’s sound, and they are all over the new material.
To celebrate the tour announcement, the band have also released a new lyric video for the track “From Order to Chaos”, taken from Winter Storm. It’s a good taster of what to expect live—relentless energy and that signature blend of folk melody and metallic grit.
Tickets for the London show are priced at £35 in advance. Given it’s a one-off UK date, you might want to get in quick if you fancy shouting along to “Fatherland” with a venue full of like-minded punters.
