If you were looking for an excuse to book a trip to Norway this summer, the team behind Beyond the Gates have just provided the final push. The festival has announced the final additions to its 2026 lineup, along with the day splits for what promises to be a massive four days of darkness in the heart of Bergen.
Taking place from 29th July to 1st August 2026, the festival has confirmed that doom heavyweights Electric Wizard and cosmic death metal crew Blood Incantation will be joining the bill. They are in good company, with black metal veterans Marduk, Gaahls WYRD, and Whoredom Rife also added to the roster. Rounding out this final announcement are Italian cult legends Mortuary Drape and Terrestrial Hospice.
Beyond the Gates has earned a stellar reputation for curating lineups that mix legends with underground gems, utilising venues across the city centre including the iconic Grieghallen and USF Verftet. This year’s “Chapter XIV” looks to be no exception.
With the lineup now complete, the organisers have revealed who is playing where and when:
Wednesday 29th July (USF Verftet)
Things kick off with a thrash masterclass from Testament. The opening night also features a special performance of Behemoth’s Sventevith, alongside an exclusive old-school set from Rotting Christ (covering 1989-1995). Support comes from Spectral Wound, Castle Rat, and Imha Tarikat.
Thursday 30th July
Electric Wizard headline the main show at USF Verftet, joined by Beherit, 1349, Warning, The Ruins of Beverast, and Forteresse.
Over at Kulturhuset, the “Day Shift” features Sulphur Aeon, Terrestrial Hospice, and Concrete Winds, while Bølzer takes care of the “Night Shift”.
Friday 31st July
The action moves to Grieghallen with Blood Incantation, Marduk, Whoredom Rife, and Misotheist.
The Kulturhuset “Day Shift” hosts Dold Vorde Ens Navn, Vafurlogi, and Saturnalia Temple, with Mortuary Drape handling the late-night proceedings.
Saturday 1st August (Grieghallen)
The festival closes in spectacular fashion with black metal royalty Emperor (featuring Faust and Mortiis). They are joined by Alcest, Arcturus, and Gaahls WYRD.
