Torchia descend into gothic horror with ‘They Are Born Under Rules Of The Darkness’

Finnish extreme metal force Torchia have unleashed their most commanding work to date with the release of their fourth full-length album, They Are Born Under Rules Of The Darkness. Over the course of their career, the Tampere-based outfit has evolved from a thrash-infused melodic death metal act into a far darker, more refined presence, now fully embracing a sound forged through gothic horror, occult mysticism, and blackened intensity.

Produced by Janne Saksa and mastered by the legendary metal visionary Dan Swanö, the album spans nine meticulously crafted tracks inspired by 19th-century gothic fiction and visions of the underworld. Standout tracks such as “Nekromanteion,” “Hellmouth,” and “The Tiamat Machine” demonstrate a band at the peak of their compositional maturity, balancing razor-sharp riffing and crushing rhythmic power with sinister orchestration and haunting hooks. For the first time, the band has even introduced clean vocal layers to complement their signature savage delivery.

Recommended for fans of Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, and Children of Bodom, the album marks a significant shift toward a more shadowed dimension while preserving the fierce guitar-driven foundations that defined their earlier records. They Are Born Under Rules Of The Darkness is available now via Rockshots Records, inviting listeners to step beyond the threshold and into a world of relentless sonic violence.

If you’re looking for more punishing riffs, be sure to catch the new release from old-school legends Jungle Rot.
