German blackened death-doom outfit Greh have just unveiled their latest single, “Summoning Aversion”, and it sounds like they’re shifting gears into even darker territory. This new track serves as the first taster of their upcoming second album, The Tyranny of Expectations, which is currently in the works and slated for a release in early 2027.
The band have shared that this new material marks a bit of a departure from their previous sound. While their earlier work was heavily rooted in doom, they’ve started to swap those slow-burn influences for a sharper black metal edge and more atmospheric drones. It’s a move that should go down well with fans of bands like Gatecreeper, Behemoth, and Heriot.
Lyrically, the track isn’t exactly light reading. “Summoning Aversion” dives into the messy reality of repressed emotions, the kind of bottled-up anger and distrust that eventually turns inward. According to the band, it’s about that protective wall you build against the world that ends up becoming a cage, leading to a deep psychosomatic toll on the body and mind. It’s heavy stuff, but it fits the punishing music perfectly.
Formed originally in 2022 as a one-man project by guitarist Gjero Krsteski (ex-Hellgreaser), Greh expanded into a full band in 2023. Since then, they’ve been busy building a solid reputation on the live circuit, supporting acts like Fit For An Autopsy and Arkona across Europe. They previously made some waves with their 2025 debut album, Dysphoric Devotion, and this new single proves they aren’t interested in standing still.
The track was recorded and produced by the band themselves at Greh Recordings in early 2026, with the final mix and master handled by Hard Drive Sounds in Germany. If you’re looking for something that combines raw aggression with a thick, dissonant atmosphere, you should definitely give this a spin. You can stream “Summoning Aversion” now on all the usual platforms or head over to their Bandcamp to grab a copy.
