Fimbul Winter (ex-Amon Amarth) unleash melodic death metal force on new single “Crowned In Ash”

International melodic death metal powerhouse Fimbul Winter have officially released their thunderous new single, “Crowned In Ash.” The track marks the latest sonic offering from the group following the success of their 2025 debut EP, What Once Was.

Boasting a lineup that features three former members of Amon Amarth – including founding members Niko Kaukinen and Anders Biazzi alongside drummer Fredrik Andersson—the band was completed in 2023 by vocalist Clint Williams. Operating out of both Stockholm, Sweden and Melbourne, Australia, the project initially sparked from a spontaneous reunion performance of Amon Amarth’s legendary 1994 demo, The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter. This instant connection ignited a desire to craft brand new material that honors their historic roots while maintaining a clean, modern intensity. As the band confidently puts it: “There was never a question of what we should sound like, we’ve been shaping this sound/genre for decades, this is in our DNA.”

“Crowned In Ash” showcases this sonic heritage perfectly, delivering driving rhythms, intricate guitar leads, and monstrous vocal deliveries from Williams. The instrumentation for the single was tracked at Studio Fluff Vasteras with engineer Andreas Moren, while vocals were captured at Witching Hour Audio by Shaun Farrugia. Featuring bass contributions from Risa Andersson, the track was mixed and mastered by Marko Tervonen at Studio-MT, wrapped in striking cover art courtesy of Katarzyna Urbanek. The new single is available to stream across all major platforms now.
