The man known as Uncle Hauk has just dropped a fresh track titled “Tsunami”, giving us a first taste of what’s to come from his upcoming full-length effort, Lose Your Illusions. If you’re a fan of music that sits somewhere between the brooding post-punk of New Model Army and the heavier, atmospheric vibes of Paradise Lost, this is one you’ll want to get in your ears as soon as possible.
The album is set for a digital release on 2nd May 2026 via Baldur Rising Music, with a cheeky early debut on Bandcamp scheduled for the day before. Across its nine tracks, the record is a bit of a genre-bender, pulling in everything from alternative rock and metal to jazz and hard rock. It’s a dark, restless journey through the eyes of someone who’s had their fill of life’s disappointments and has stopped trying to pretend everything is sunshine and roses.
Recording took place at Talonspan Studios in Escalon, California. While Quentin Marshall Purviance stepped in to handle the drums and percussion, Hauk himself was a busy man, taking on the writing, production, mixing, and mastering duties. This DIY spirit shines through in the wide musical range, which features heavy guitars alongside acoustic textures and even some saxophone work. It’s all about that space between collapse and endurance, which is something most of us can probably relate to after a rough week.
Hauk isn’t exactly a newcomer to the scene, having previously spent time in projects like Black Hat Society and Elf Queen. That experience shows in the way the songs refuse to be pinned down to a single mould. You can check out the video for “Tsunami” now to see exactly what he’s been cooking up.
